Open burn permits may be obtained by contacting the following:

  • Newton Fire & Rescue
  • Estabrooks Garage (during normal business hours)

Seasonal Fire Permits

To avoid any misunderstandings, please read.

Category I Fire

  1. All  permits  can  be  revoked  for  any  reason
  2. This  permit  cannot be  used  to  burn  brush  or  garbage
  3. This  permit  cannot  be  used  when  fire  dangers  are  “High”  or  above
  4. Fire size 2’ in diameter must be contained within a  ring of fire resistive material or in a portable fireplace.
  5. Fire  located  25’  from  structures
  6. Failure to produce your permit and this handout to any police or fire official will result in immediate revocation.

Category II Fire 5:00 pm to 9:00 am

  1. All permits can be revoked for any reason
  2. This permit cannot be used to burn brush or garbage
  3. This permit cannot be used when fire dangers are “High” or above.
  4. Fire size 4’ in diameter must be contained within a ring of fire resistive material or in a portable fireplace.
  5. Fire located 50’ from structures
  6. Failure to produce your permit and this handout to any police or fire official will result in immediate revocation.

Fire Works permit $100 

All permits can be obtained at the Fire Station Monday through Friday from 8 AM to 3 PM. All checks must be made payable to the Town of Newton
